Engagement Photos at the Rotary Park in Calgary
It’s a very busy park during the day. It has a tennis club and a bustling neighbourhood nearby. We prefer to go there in the evening. It's a perfect time and location to catch glimpses of sun getting behind the mountains. It also the time when golden light covers downtown buildings. You probably can tell that we really love that location and time of the day.
This was exactly the place where we photographed an engagement session of a beautiful couple - Sela and Tim.
Sela and Tim are amazing human beings whose wedding we are going to photograph later this year. We are super happy to be a part of their wedding day and document the beginning of their new family.
We include engagement sessions for all our wedding packages. Sela and Tim were onboard with the idea to have another excuse to dress up and have a date night together.
We asked guys what they like to do when they don’t work and simply hang out with each other. Turned out they both like walking in the parks near Calgary downtown enjoying the gorgeous views. Rotary Park came to our mind and guys liked the idea, especially when we mentioned it is an off-leash park as well. Sela and Tim both like dogs so it was a bonus to the session.
Summer weather in Calgary is very unpredictable, especially in June. It can be +30C and in a couple of hours change to thunderstorm with hail. We were lucky and on the photo session day the sun was shining all day and there were no rain clouds on the horizon. We started our session around 6 pm, so we'd have enough time to photograph guys with gorgeous light.
We talked a lot. We joked and laughed a lot. We had a good time together. This is what engagement session is about. We always recommend having your engagement session done with a photographer who is going to tell the story of your wedding day in photos. It is very important to get to know your photographer before your big day. Get used to be in front of cameras. Relax and have fun.
The main part is to trust your photographer and the final engagement photos will be candid and authentic. It is vital to have that trust in the photographer who is going to capture moments, events and emotions on your wedding day - one of the most important days of your life.
Engagement sessions are fun to photograph. It’s a first step a couple is taking to document some unique moments and create memories that will be a significant part of their family photo archive.
We have a selection of the photos from Sela and Tim engagement session for you. Enjoy them and share your love!
